Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 4 pieces small/medium apples (Gala, Fuji, or Honeycrisp) Choose firmer apples for better texture.
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided ½ tsp for tossing, 1 tsp for finishing.
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil (or vegetable oil) This adds moisture and helps the spices adhere.
  • 1 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted Use coconut oil for a dairy-free option.
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar Use brown sugar for a deeper flavor if desired.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Remove cores and slice the apples into 1/2-inch slices. You can keep the skin on or peel them.
  • In a bowl, toss the apple slices with 1 tablespoon of oil, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon until evenly coated.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (if your model requires preheating).
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil if desired and arrange apple slices in a single layer, working in batches if necessary.

Cooking

  • Air fry at 380°F for 10 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping the apples halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  • Apples should be soft and tender, not mushy.

Finishing

  • Transfer cooked apples to a bowl and immediately toss with melted butter, the remaining 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons of sugar until glossy and coated.
  • Serve right away as a topping or warm snack.

Notes

Cool apples to room temperature before refrigerating. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days. For best texture, reheat in the air fryer rather than the microwave.
