Ingredients

Fruit Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples (or 2 cups mixed berries) Firm apples like Honeycrisp or Gala work best; swap in pears or peaches when in season.
  • 1-2 tbsp lemon juice Brightens the fruit and prevents browning.
  • 1-2 tbsp maple syrup or honey Adjust to taste; brown sugar is fine for deeper caramel notes.
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon Add a pinch of nutmeg if desired.

Topping Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup rolled oats Provides a hearty, crunchy topping.
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour Use almond flour for gluten-free.
  • 2 tbsp butter, cold and diced Coconut oil works for dairy-free.
  • a pinch salt

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  • Core and slice the apples into 1/4-inch thick wedges (if using berries, rinse and drain). Toss the fruit with lemon juice, 1 tbsp maple syrup, and the cinnamon in a mixing bowl.
  • Spoon the fruit into your prepared dish in an even layer.
  • In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, a pinch of salt, and remaining maple syrup. Cut in the cold butter with a fork or pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Cooking

  • Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the fruit.
  • Place the dish in the preheated air fryer basket and cook at 350°F (175°C) for 8-12 minutes. Check at 8 minutes; the topping should be golden and the fruit should be bubbling at the edges.
  • Remove carefully (the dish will be hot) and let rest for 3 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a vegan version, use coconut oil and maple syrup; choose almond flour in place of all-purpose flour. For gluten-free, use certified gluten-free oats and a GF flour blend. To reduce sugar, lower the syrup to 1 tbsp and rely on ripe fruit sweetness.
