Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 large firm apples (Gala, Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Pink Lady)
  • 1-2 tablespoons melted butter or neutral oil Coconut oil for tropical flavor
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar or coconut sugar For a lower-glycemic option
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • a pinch salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg or pumpkin spice (optional) For added warmth

Optional Garnishes

  • to taste powdered sugar For dusting
  • to taste drizzle of honey
  • to taste melted dark chocolate

Instructions

Preparation

  • Core the apples and slice into uniform rings about 1/4 inch thick. Remove any seeds.
  • In a shallow bowl, mix sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Add optional spices if using.
  • Brush or toss apple rings with the melted butter or oil until lightly coated.
  • Dredge each ring through the cinnamon-sugar mixture so both sides have an even dusting.

Cooking

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes if your model recommends preheating.
  • Place the rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Don’t overlap—work in batches if needed.
  • Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8–12 minutes, flipping once halfway. Watch closely to achieve golden edges and tender centers without burning.
  • Remove to a cooling rack or plate. Serve warm, topped with powdered sugar or a drizzle of honey.

Notes

Short-term storage: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 325°F (160°C) for 2–4 minutes to restore crispness. For freezing: Lay cooled rings on a baking sheet in a single layer and freeze until solid. Transfer to a freezer bag for up to 1 month.
