  • 2 large Eggs, beaten Acts as the binder (sub: buttermilk or plant-based egg replacer for vegan).

  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper For basic seasoning.
  • as needed Cooking spray (or a light brush of oil) Crucial for browning in the air fryer.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Slice the pickles into thick rounds, aiming for 1/4–1/3 inch to keep the center tangy.
  • Set up three shallow bowls: one with seasoned flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mix of breadcrumbs and cornmeal.
  • Dredge each pickle slice in the flour, shaking off excess.
  • Dip the floured slice into the beaten egg, letting excess drip back.
  • Press the slice into the breadcrumb–cornmeal mix until well coated on both sides.

Cooking

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and spray the basket lightly with cooking spray.
  • Arrange the coated pickles in a single layer in the basket without overcrowding. Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.
  • Air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping gently halfway through, until the coating is crispy and golden brown.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Leftover fried pickles can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. For optimal crispness, re-crisp in the air fryer.
