Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 slices slices of bread (white, sourdough, country loaf)
  • 2 slices slices of cheese (cheddar, American, mozzarella) Choose a good melting cheese
  • 2–4 strips strips of turkey bacon Adjust for preference; 3 is a nice middle ground
  • 1 tablespoon Butter Room temperature or spreadable

Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat a skillet over medium. Add the turkey bacon and cook until crisp, turning occasionally. Remove turkey bacon and drain on paper towels.
  • Butter one side of each bread slice evenly. The buttered side will be the outside that contacts the pan.
  • Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet over medium-low heat.
  • Layer the cheese on the bread in the pan, then add the crispy turkey bacon strips across the cheese. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
  • Cook gently for about 3–4 minutes until the bottom slice is golden brown. Lower the heat if the bread browns too quickly before the cheese melts.
  • Flip the sandwich carefully with a spatula. Cook another 3–4 minutes until the second side is golden and the cheese is fully melted. Press lightly with the spatula to encourage even contact and melting.
  • Remove the sandwich from the pan, let it rest 1 minute, slice, and serve.

Notes

For a crispy exterior, consider substituting butter with mayonnaise on the outside of the bread. For variations, you can use turkey bacon, plant-based turkey bacon, different types of cheese and bread to suit your taste.
