Ingredients

Base

  • 1 cup water Bring this to a proper boil so the gelatin dissolves completely.
  • 1 package powdered gelatin Plain unflavored works best; it's the glue.

Flavor

  • 1 cup fruit juice (berry or citrus juice recommended) Pick a 100% juice or low-sugar option depending on your needs.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Bring 1 cup of water to a rolling boil in a small saucepan.
  • Remove the pan from heat and immediately sprinkle in the powdered gelatin. Stir continuously until completely dissolved and silky — about 1–2 minutes.
  • Pour in 1 cup of your chosen fruit juice and stir to combine.
  • Pour the liquid into molds, ramekins, or a shallow dish and chill in the fridge for 2–4 hours until firm.
  • Run a thin knife around the edge and invert onto a plate or slice right in the dish. Serve chilled as a light treat.

Notes

Refrigerate the jello covered in the fridge for up to 5 days. Avoid freezing as it can become rubbery. For a firmer jello, add an extra half-package of gelatin.
