  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or mixed herbs
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

For the Potatoes

  • 2-3 pieces medium potatoes (Yukon gold or russet), washed and cut into chips
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil to coat
  • 0.5 batch spice mix from above

For the Beef

  • 500 grams lean beef mince
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 0.5 batch spice mix remaining half from above

Toppings and Extras

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup cheese (dairy-free or regular), sliced or shredded
  • 1 cup pickle slices

Burger Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (Dijon or yellow)
  • 1 teaspoon pickle juice from the jar
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F) or preheat the air fryer.
  • In a small bowl, combine all spice mix ingredients. Set aside.
  • Wash potatoes and cut into chips. Pat dry with paper towels.
  • Toss the potato chips with 1 tablespoon olive oil and half the spice mix. Mix to coat evenly.

Cooking Potatoes

  • Spread the potatoes in a single layer on a baking tray or in the air fryer basket. Roast for 30–40 minutes turning once, or air fry for about 20 minutes until golden and crispy.

Cooking Beef

  • While the potatoes cook, heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil in a frying pan over high heat.
  • Add the beef mince and break it apart with a wooden spoon. Brown until caramelized.
  • Sprinkle the remaining spice mix over the meat and continue cooking until the beef is darkened and any excess moisture evaporates.

Making Burger Sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, garlic powder and smoked paprika. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Assembly

  • Divide roasted potatoes among bowls. Add shredded lettuce to fill the rest of each bowl.
  • Top with the cooked beef, cheese, and pickles.
  • Drizzle the burger sauce over each bowl and serve immediately.

Notes

For a lighter bowl, use air-fried potato wedges or sweet potatoes. These bowls are adaptable to various dietary needs. Store leftovers properly in airtight containers.
