For serving

Instructions

Preparation

  • Soften the cream cheese by leaving it at room temperature for 20–30 minutes or microwaving in 5-second bursts until just softened.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
  • Mix in the powdered sugar until fully incorporated and smooth.
  • Gently fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture until light and evenly blended. Avoid overmixing.
  • Spread the mixture into a shallow bowl or small serving dish, smoothing the top.
  • Pour the caramel sauce evenly over the top in a crisscross or circular pattern.
  • Sprinkle the diced apples across the caramel and scatter the crushed pecans if using.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld and dip firm up slightly.
  • Serve with graham crackers, pretzels, or apple slices.

Notes

For a lighter version, use low-fat cream cheese and light whipped topping. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days. Don't freeze this dip as whipped topping and fresh apples don’t freeze well.
