  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20) Using slightly fattier beef can yield juicier bites.
  • 1 large egg Acts as a binder.

Mix-ins

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Regular or panko; panko gives a lighter texture.
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese Freshly shredded melts better.
  • 1/4 cup diced onion White or yellow onion works best.
  • 1 clove garlic, minced Provides flavor.

Seasoning

  • Salt and pepper To taste.

For Serving

  • Ketchup and mustard Optional: add pickles and mayo for a mini burger vibe.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Chop the onion and garlic into small pieces.

Mixing

  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, shredded cheddar, diced onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, and pepper.
  • Gently fold the ingredients together until just combined, ensuring not to overwork the meat.

Shaping

  • Pinch off walnut-sized portions and roll them into balls, then flatten them slightly to form patties about 1/2 inch thick.

Baking

  • Place the patties on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15–20 minutes until cooked through and slightly browned.
  • Check for doneness; 160°F is safe for ground beef.

Serving

  • Let the cheeseburger bites rest for a couple of minutes before serving warm with ketchup and mustard.
  • Optionally brush with ketchup during the last 3 minutes of baking for extra flavor.

Notes
