Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 2 fillets crispy chicken fillets (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 slices crusty bread (sourdough, ciabatta, or a country loaf)
  • 1/4 cup homemade Caesar dressing adjust to taste
  • a few leaves Romaine lettuce, washed and dried
  • 1-2 tablespoons shaved Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Toast the bread: Place the slices in a toaster or under a broiler until they’re evenly golden and crisp. Let cool slightly.
  • Dress the bread: Spread about 1–2 tablespoons of Caesar dressing on each slice so every bite is saucy but not soggy.
  • Layer the lettuce: Pile washed, dry Romaine on one dressed slice. Dry leaves keep the sandwich from getting soggy.
  • Add the chicken: Place the hot, crispy chicken fillets on top of the lettuce. If the fillets are cold, warm them briefly in a 350°F oven for 5–7 minutes.
  • Finish with cheese and seasoning: Scatter shaved Parmesan over the chicken and season lightly with salt and a few grinds of black pepper.
  • Close and serve: Top with the second slice of bread, press gently, cut in half, and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve this sandwich hot and freshly assembled so the bread stays crisp. Pair it with hand-cut fries, a lemony coleslaw, or simple pickles for contrast. Keep lettuce dry and dress bread, not lettuce to maintain the sandwich's texture.
