Easter Bunny Bait Trail Mix
A cheerful and crunchy snack mix that's perfect for Easter baskets and parties, featuring a delightful combination of cereals, pretzels, marshmallows, and festive candies.
Ingredients
Base Ingredients
- 6 cups crisp rice cereal or gluten-free rice cereal if needed
- 3 cups Chex-style oat or corn cereal
- 1 cup pretzel sticks or twists broken into bite-size pieces
Sweet Mix Ingredients
- 1 cup mini marshmallows or marshmallow bits
- 1-1.5 cups pastel-colored candy-coated chocolates or small chocolate eggs
- ½ cup mini chocolate chips optional
Optional Coating Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter or coconut oil; optional for a lightly coated mix
- 2 tablespoons honey or light corn syrup; helps candies stick
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar optional, for a 'snowy' dusting
- 2 tablespoons pastel sprinkles optional, for garnish
Instructions
Preparation
- If coating, melt butter (or coconut oil) and honey/corn syrup together in a small saucepan over low heat until just combined. Remove from heat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine rice cereal, Chex cereal, and pretzel pieces. Pour the melted mixture over the cereals if using, and gently fold to coat evenly. (Skip this step for a dry mix.)
- Let the coated cereal cool for 2–3 minutes so it firms slightly. If you used the coating, sprinkle powdered sugar now and toss lightly for a dusted finish.
Mixing
- Add mini marshmallows and candy-coated chocolates. Fold gently with a rubber spatula to avoid crushing marshmallows.
- Stir in mini chocolate chips and sprinkles last so they don’t melt from any residual heat.
- Transfer to serving bowls or portion into small cellophane bags for treats. Seal airtight if storing.

Keep steps short and gentle: vigorous stirring ruins texture, and adding candies too early can cause color bleed. Perfect for Easter celebrations and can be modified for nut-free, vegan, and gluten-free diets.
