Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.50 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 0.50 cups slivered almonds Can be substituted with any favorite nuts.
  • 1.00 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.50 cups unsweetened applesauce Can be swapped for maple syrup for added sweetness.
  • 0.50 tsp alcohol-free vanilla extract

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with unbleached parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the rolled oats, slivered almonds, ground cinnamon, applesauce, and alcohol-free vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Spread the mixture in an even layer on the prepared baking sheet.

Baking

  • Bake in the oven for about 35 minutes, or until the granola is toasted and fragrant. You won’t need to stir it while baking.
  • Once done, let it cool on the tray on a cooling rack. Store the cooled granola in a sealed jar or container for up to a week.

Notes

For added crunch, consider toasting your nuts briefly before mixing them into the granola. Experiment with different spices, like nutmeg or cardamom, to create a flavor profile that suits your palate. Don’t be afraid to add dried fruits after baking for a chewy texture contrast.
