Ingredients

Brownie Batter Ingredients

  • 8 tablespoons butter Can swap for equal coconut oil or a neutral oil.
  • 1 ounce unsweetened chocolate Alternatively, use chopped unsweetened baking chocolate.
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Adjust for a deeper chocolate flavor.
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour Use 1:1 GF blend for gluten-free option.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Can replace with 3/4 cup granulated and 1/4 cup brown sugar for chewiness.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs Use a flax egg for a vegan option.
  • 1 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract

Instructions

Preparation

  • Spray a 7-inch round cake pan or a 6-inch square pan with non-stick spray. Line with parchment if you prefer easier removal.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 310°F.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and unsweetened chocolate. Melt in 20–30 second bursts, stirring until smooth.
  • Stir in the sugar, cocoa powder, flour, and salt until mostly combined.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla. Mix until the batter is smooth and glossy — don’t overmix.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

Cooking

  • Place the pan in the air fryer basket and set the timer for 18 minutes.
  • Check for doneness at 18 minutes; you want a few moist crumbs on a toothpick. Add 1–4 more minutes if needed.
  • Remove from the air fryer and cool on a rack for 15–20 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Store cooled brownies in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature or 4 days in the refrigerator. Wrap tightly for freezing up to 3 months.
