Ingredients

For the filling

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20) works well for flavor; leaner is fine if you drain carefully
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened room temperature for smooth melting
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese sharp or medium
  • 1/4 cup garlic butter, melted store-bought or homemade
  • 1 pack refrigerated crescent roll dough 8-count per standard pack
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • Optional: pickles, thinly sliced onions, sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to the temperature printed on the crescent roll package (typically 375–400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • Heat a skillet over medium. Add the ground beef, break it up with a spatula, and cook until well-browned, 6–8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • Reduce heat to low. Add the softened cream cheese and stir until it melts into the beef and coats it evenly. Stir in shredded cheddar until melted and combined. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly.
  • Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into triangles. Place about 1–2 tablespoons of the beef mixture on the wide end of each triangle. Don’t overfill—leave room to seal.
  • Roll up each triangle from the wide end toward the point, tucking the sides in as you go to keep the filling enclosed. Place each rollup seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Brush the tops with garlic butter. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if using.

Baking

  • Bake until golden brown, about 12–15 minutes. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the ground beef has reached 160°F (71°C).
  • Serve warm. Garnish with pickles or thinly sliced onions for brightness if desired.

Notes

These rollups are versatile—serve as finger food or pair with sides for a fuller meal. Store cooled rollups in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 8–10 minutes.
