  • 1 cup black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup Can substitute with another sweetener
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter or almond butter Any nut butter can be used
  • 1/2 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  • In a food processor, combine the black beans, cocoa powder, honey, peanut butter, alcohol-free vanilla extract, baking powder, and salt. Blend until you achieve a smooth consistency.
  • If you're a fan of chocolate, fold in the dark chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth out the top.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean.
  • Allow the brownies to cool before slicing them into squares.

Notes

Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days or freeze them for up to three months. Thaw at room temperature.
