Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened (8 oz) Full-fat gives the creamiest texture.
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1.5 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese Use freshly shredded for better melting.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Use freshly shredded for better melting.
  • 1 can Rotel (diced tomatoes with green chilies), drained (10 oz) Swap with fire-roasted tomatoes plus minced jalapeños for fresh heat.
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional) Adds extra heat.
  • to taste Salt and black pepper
  • to taste Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef sausage. Cook, breaking it into small pieces, until browned and crumbly, about 7–9 minutes.
  • Drain excess grease. Transfer the cooked beef sausage to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb more fat if needed.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Stir in the sour cream until fully combined.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne (if using), and a few grinds of black pepper. Mix well.
  • Fold in the drained Rotel and about 1 cup of the cheddar and ¾ cup of the mozzarella (reserve a little of each for topping).
  • Stir in the cooked beef sausage until the mixture is uniformly blended.
  • Transfer the mixture to a baking dish (an 8×8 or similar shallow dish works well) and smooth the top. Sprinkle the reserved cheddar and mozzarella evenly over the surface.

Baking

  • Bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes, until bubbly around the edges and cheese is melted.
  • Optional: For a golden top, broil for 1–2 minutes — watch closely to avoid burning.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions. Serve hot.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days. Can be frozen for up to 2 months. Reheat gently in a covered dish.
