Ingredients

For the rolls

  • 1 pack Hawaiian rolls (12-count) King’s Hawaiian is classic, but any soft, slightly sweet roll will do.
  • 8-10 slices cheddar cheese (your preferred melting cheese; provolone or Monterey Jack work well) For a sharper bite, use aged cheddar or mix with mozzarella for extra creaminess.

For the buttery glaze

  • 4 tbsp melted butter Use unsalted butter for better control over salt.
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder Can substitute with 1/4 tsp garlic salt.
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder Can substitute with 1/4 tsp onion salt.
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • Pinch salt and pepper Adjust to taste.

Optional ingredients

  • 4 slices turkey, beef, chicken bacon Can use vegetarian turkey bacon or omit for a meat-free slider.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Slice the entire sheet of Hawaiian rolls horizontally without separating the individual buns. Keep the sheet intact like a sandwich.
  • Lay 8–10 slices of cheddar evenly over the bottom half. If your slices are large, overlap slightly to cover.
  • Add the cooked turkey bacon slices evenly across the cheese, if using.
  • Place the top half of the rolls back onto the bottom, keeping the sheet together.

Cooking

  • In a small bowl, stir melted butter with garlic powder, onion powder, dried parsley, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Brush the seasoned butter evenly across the tops of the rolls.
  • Cover the pan tightly with foil and bake for 12 minutes to let cheese melt.
  • Remove the foil and bake another 5–7 minutes, until the tops are golden brown and the butter has crisped slightly.
  • Remove from oven, slice between each roll with a serrated knife, and serve warm.

Notes

These sliders can be served as an appetizer, party finger food, alongside a simple meal. They reheat well and can be frozen for up to 2 months. For extra crispy tops, you can broil them for 1–2 minutes at the end.
