Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 long long cucumbers (English or Japanese) Fresh and firm for better texture.
  • 1/2 unit avocado, thinly sliced
  • 4-6 oz raw sushi-grade salmon, thinly sliced Ensure freshness.
  • 2-3 oz cream cheese, thinly sliced, cut in half lengthwise

Instructions

Preparation

  • Cut the ends off each cucumber and slice it into thin strips (lengthwise) using a vegetable peeler or mandoline. Discard the outer layer and center part, which contain seeds and excess moisture.
  • Line the cucumber slices on a cutting board and trim the ends to ensure a uniform length.
  • Lay a sheet of plastic wrap over a bamboo mat, and start layering the cucumber slices on the mat so they overlap each other halfway. Ensure the ends are perpendicular to the direction you want to roll.
  • Place the sliced avocado, salmon, and cream cheese along the bottom edge of the cucumber slices.
  • Using the bamboo mat, lift the edge and gently roll away from you while applying slight pressure to keep the roll tight. Continue to roll, pulling the plastic wrap away as you go.
  • Once fully rolled, wrap the plastic around the roll to maintain its shape and refrigerate for an hour or freeze for 5-10 minutes.

Serving

  • When ready to serve, unwrap and slice into 6-8 pieces. Garnish with sesame seeds or sriracha, and enjoy with soy sauce and wasabi.

Notes

Naruto Rolls can be served on a platter with soy sauce and a dollop of wasabi, alongside fresh ginger slices or a simple salad for a complete meal. Store leftovers tightly wrapped in plastic for up to two days in the refrigerator, or freeze securely to avoid freezer burn.
