  • 2 tbsp 2 tbsp almond milk (unsweetened) Can substitute with any non-dairy milk.
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp applesauce (unsweetened) Helps to create the smooth texture.

Optional garnishes

  • Berries Fresh berries for garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by cutting the avocado in half and removing the pit. Scoop the flesh into a blender or food processor.
  • Add the unsweetened cocoa powder, almond milk, applesauce, honey or maple syrup, alcohol-free vanilla extract, and sea salt to the blender.
  • Blend the mixture until smooth and creamy.
  • Taste the mousse; if necessary, add a touch more honey or maple syrup for sweetness. Keep the sweetness minimal to maintain a low carb count.
  • Transfer the mousse into individual serving cups or bowls and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set and let the flavors meld.
  • Before serving, garnish with fresh berries or shaved dark chocolate if desired.

Notes

To keep your mousse fresh, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 2–3 days. This mousse does not freeze well; it’s quick to make when needed!
