Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract

For Frying

  • as needed cups oil for frying Use enough oil so dough balls can float.
  • as needed tablespoons powdered sugar For dusting before serving.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir gently until just combined — a few small lumps are fine.
  • Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).

Frying

  • Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil using two spoons or a small scoop. Fry until golden, about 2–3 minutes per side.
  • Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  • Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 24 hours. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 5–7 minutes or microwave for 10–15 seconds. For longer storage, freeze unfrosted beignets on a tray, transfer to a freezer bag, and reheat from frozen in the oven.
